You should update your resume at least twice a year.  Why?

• You need to capture your recent quantifiable achievements while they are fresh in your mind – not years later when the information becomes vague and wins are forgotten.
• Your role evolves faster than your resume. Your responsibilities shift, extra tasks are added to your job, but they are not in your job description. Regular updates keep your resume aligned with what you actually do, not what you were originally hired to do
• You are ready for that unexpected career opportunity. You need your resume in good shape for an internal promotion or an external opportunity.

Your resume should be a strategic tool to improve your career prospects and demonstrate your capability. It is not a basic list of job tasks.  Treat it like a strategic tool and your career and salary will benefit.
