I moved out of marketing and sales roles within building materials markets into recruitment in 2000, motivated by many frustrating experiences as a candidate. I worked exclusively in the B2B sector at Morgan & Banks, recruiting sales and marketing roles from graduates through to senior management. I also had the opportunity to work with some of the best recruiters in Australia. I sat at their feet… I listened, I learned, and I applied best practice. I was lucky to have amazing mentors, some of which I still have today.I have seen the recruitment industry change and adapt over the last 25 years. I am a constant student of best practice and the effective application of those best practices to improve the experience of clients, candidates and our team at Saunders Lynn.For nearly 25 years, I have developed in-depth knowledge and experience recruiting in the B2B marketplace, specifically focusing on building and architecture, industrial and education markets with clients such as Boral, CSR, James Hardie, GWA, Laminex, The Living Edge, Sebel Furniture and Armstrong among many others.Today, I spend most of my time working on General Management roles and senior executive positions in sales and marketing. What's in it for you?
This is an opportunity to put your own plan in place and execute it.  Primarily, you will be working autonomously. While you are part of the larger NSW sales team, you will be working exclusively within your own product portfolio. You alone are responsible for the trade sales results in NSW. You'll be working with a great manager who is practical and trusts you to do your job. 

You manage your time and your call cycle and report into your manager on issues and results. You have all the required tools such as a CRM, marketing and branding support and peers around the country in a similar role.

My client is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to drive sales with their retail and trade customers.  They tend to hire experienced sales executives in trade territories. 


Your responsibilities
  • Develop and grow positive relationships with the existing customer base of hardwares, building supplies merchants, contractors etc.
  • Create demand for the product range by discussing the product with trades, builders, TAFE students and engineers
  • Work closely with your peers in the NSW sales team to leverage sales opportunities with home builders and their contractors
  • Develop and implement innovative sales strategies
  • Achieve agreed sales targets and goals, via a solid plan and execution of that plan
  • Sales negotiations with business owners, purchasing officers, trades and merchants 
  • Launch, educate and train customers on the product range
  • Find opportunities to further increase sales and deliver on those opportunities
  • Manage a regular call cycle and drive a clear business strategy for your area
  • Extract the maximum share of wallet with each customer  
  • The area is predominantly Sydney, Wollongong, Central Coast, and Newcastle, with a limited amount of regional travel. 
Your skills & experience
  • Experience selling to trade customers (preferred experience with major hardware stores, building supplies merchants, trades and builders) 
  • Friendly and professional approach
  • Territory management and account plan
  • Strong administration, PC skills
  • Negotiation skills and excellent rapport with customers
  • Able to take accountability and resolve customer problems
  • Be prepared to delight your customers by exceeding their expectations
