My career in recruitment has spanned three decades in both London and Sydney. My first recruitment role started in the 1990’s, and I worked my way up into a Senior Consultant position for one of the UK’s leading recruitment firms. I focused on senior finance and accounting roles. After a career break to raise a family I returned to recruitment, this time in Sydney working in the temporary and contract space.In recent years, I have turned my attention to the construction industry, working with some of Australia’s most successful building companies and architecture practices, recruiting white and blue collar roles for organisations such as Masterton Homes, McDonald Jones and Hassel. Life then led me to Singapore and the expat life.On my return to Australia, I found my way back into recruitment, once again in construction and manufacturing markets, working with companies such as Highland Pine and O'Brien Glass. Working at Saunders Lynn provides me the opportunity to combine my commercial and construction recruitment experience; recruiting sales and marketing staff who often have a trade, architecture or engineering background.I pride myself on being a determined, energetic and adaptable Recruiter with a strong track record of working in specialist markets with corporate clients. From master planning to design through to construction, you will partner with clients to deliver high quality and cost-effective projects to meet both their current and future needs.


Your responsibilities…

  • Manage existing relationships whilst developing a targeted strategic approach to identify potential clients and their key decision-makers across the education sector to generate future business.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to review business activities and develop the most effective strategies to win and retain business, resulting in a strong pipeline of projects.
  • Appreciate the importance of master planning and future planning for clients, and discuss this effectively with new clients and liaise internally to ensure effective project execution.
  • Attend industry events and seminars to create new business opportunities, including conducting presentations.
  • Present proposals to clients and provide access to expertise within the company to support the client’s decision-making process.
  • Maintain a close relationship with clients, allowing for modifications to strategic plans when necessary.


Your skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in strategic business development and account management with the ability to build long term business relationships.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, architecture or construction
  • Sales experience within a design and construct firm, architecture firm, fit-out business, or the education sector, is ideal.
  • Strategic capability and strong business acumen with the ability to build a business/segment or tactical plan and execute it effectively.
  • A team player who can work cohesively across the design and construction teams while taking accountability for client outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document reports and briefings.
  • Strong planning with high-level analytical, problem-solving solving and presentation skills.
